Cleaning your crystal should be preformed immediately after acquiring it. Many different people have handled your crystal and have left their impression on it. Always assume these are negative energies and not compatable with yours. A cleansing will balance and calm the jostled electomagnetic field before you preform any work with your crystal.
Sea salt is the recognized cleaner to remove unwanted vibrations on the surface of your crystal. It neutralizes the quartz's electrical charges on the surface without damaging the programming that has been previously done. Measure 1 cup of sea salt with 1 quart of water. Be sure the temperature of the water is close to the same as your crystal so that your crystal does not crack. Never use a metallic container for the solution as the sea salt and metal make an electric charge on their own and can damage the electons in your crystal.
Hold the crystal in your left hand or both hands and mentally request that all negatives be removed from the crystal. Be sure that you visualize the picture of the negatives leaving the crystal and leaving the crystal pure. The experience crystal worker knows when the crystal is cleaned. The beginner need to leave the crystal soaking for 15 minutes to a few hours depending on the history of the stone.
When the cleaning is finished rinse the crystal under cool running water to activate the energy flow. A soft brush maybe used to remove any surface dirt. Dry the crystal with a natural fiber cloth such as cotton or silk.
The first step to programming your crystal is clearing away any previous program that may have been imbedded in it.
Use your mind to imagine a white cosmic light comming in the crown chakra at the top of your head. White light travelling down your torso, down your legs into the floor and connecting with the center of the earth. Let the white light travel down your arms and thru the smaller chakra's in the palms of your hands and finger tips. Expand the white light to wash your aura's energy field and cleans your chakras. Imagine that the white light is taking all the negatives from your energy points and personal space. After a few minutes of clearing your aura and chakras pick up your crystal.
Hold the crystal in your left hand or put it on a flat surface, point up, and hold the base with your left hand. Hold your right hand over the crystal's point without touching it.
Imagine the white light traveling in thru the crown chakra down your torso and into your left arm. Allow the white light to flow thru your left arm and thru the palm of your hand into the base of the crystal. See or feel or know that the energy is flowing up the stem of the crystal out of the crystal's point. Feel the white light enter the palm of your right hand and complete the energy circuit. Intuitively you will know when the previous programming is completely removed.
Always use white light as it is the sum total of all colors. It is the most pure and full of all colors. Your crystal is now cleared and ready to accept a new program.
Crystals do not understand language. They store pictures. So the program must be a series of pictures that can be emminated and magnified thru the facets of the crystal. This program must also be related to the kind of work your crystal naturally does. If you aren't sure what kind of crystal you have go to a rock shop and ask. The previous pages gives you the information that you need to know to program your crystal to enhance the work that it was made to do.
You should only use one program per crystal. You don't want one program to conflict with another or cancel each other out. The program must benefit the owner and have the owner's best interests at heart.
Keep your program simple, leaving the more complex programming for later. If you need to write down the pictures or steps so that they flow from you into the crystal without hesitation. Later you can practice with color and sound, but for now just use a series of pictures to tell what you want the crystal to do.
Care must be made that no negative energy is put into your crystal it will be magnified and reflected back. All images will be amplified within the circle of quartz's triangles, released and then manifested.
You should be very clear about what you want. What you ask for may not come in the time frame that you feel is proper or in the way that you felt it should. The crystal will manifest what you ask for. Keep in mind the old adage: " Be careful what you ask for, you may just get it ! "
Put up a sacred space or sacred circle. You must be sure that the space you are working in is cleared of all negative energies. You do not want to be putting negative energy from your space into the crystal you are programming.
Run energy the same as you did when clearing your crystal. Use your mind to imagine a white cosmic light comming in the crown chakra at the top of your head. See or feel or know that the energy of this picture program is flowing up the stem of the crystal out of the crystal's point. Feel the pictures enter the palm of your right hand and complete the energy circuit.
The heat of your hands will excite the electrons within the crystal and cause an increase of energy out of the point.
Hold the crystal between the palms of your hands as if you are praying. Allow the picture story to flow from your mind down thru both your left and right arm, thru the palms of both hands into the base of the crystal. See or feel or know that the energy of this picture program is flowing in thru both points and up the stem of the crystal. See or feel or know that the energy is mingling in the center of the crystal out coming out of the oposite points. Feel the pictures enter the palms of both your hands and complete the energy circuit.
Each crystal within a cluster maybe given it's own program, or a single mind picture for the entire cluster.
To program the cluster as a whole thought form, place your left hand under its base while the right covers as many points as possible. Then project the mind pictures.
While the left holds its base, each point may be programmed by placing your right hand over each individual point and projecting the thought form. All programs must be compatible since the energies share a common base.
Quarts should be rinsed under cool tap water every two weeks to remove dust. Dust has static electricity which interfers with the programming that you have done. The crystal may be dryed with a natural fiber cloth to stimulate it's energy fields.
If your crystals are around a lot of negative emotions or used for healing clean it in salt water for a period of 15 minutes to 24 hours depending on the contamination levels.
Crystals need natural light and should be given a minimum of five hours per week in direct sunlight for energizing. Place them on a sunny window sill, or in a safe place out of doors. They will also recharge if they are in close proximity to one another. It is suggested that their energy be allowed to flow by placing the crystals in a circular or triangular shape. Place the small ones between the points of the larger ones or between the points of a cluster.
